Technical Detail
4 Sided Horizontal Rebate
Floor View system concrete rebate preparation and panel joint assembly. Four-sided horizontal restraint for acrylic panels integrated into pool floor structures.
Rebate Geometry
Section Through Rebate
Cross-section showing grout bed, silicone joint, and panel seating within the concrete rebate. Panel bears on structural grout with perimeter silicone seal.
Plan View
Plan view showing four-sided rebate with uniform edge clearance. Silicone joint continuous around full perimeter.
Isometric Assembly
Exploded isometric showing layer sequence: concrete rebate, epoxy membrane, structural grout bed, acrylic panel, and perimeter silicone seal.
Critical Dimensions
Key Rebate Dimensions
| Ref. | Description | Typical Range | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Panel Thickness | 50–120mm | Engineered per water depth |
| B | Grout Bed Thickness | 15–25mm | Minimum 15mm for levelling |
| C | Silicone Joint Width | 15–20mm | Per movement calculation |
| D | Edge Clearance | 40mm min. | All four sides |
| E | Rebate Depth | A + 25mm min. | Below finished floor |
All dimensions are indicative and subject to project-specific engineering. Final dimensions are confirmed in issued-for-construction drawings.

Joint Assembly
Component Materials
Structural Grout Bed
Sika HES or approved equivalent
High early strength structural grout provides a uniform bearing surface and transfers hydrostatic loads to the concrete structure.
Epoxy Membrane
Megapoxy HT or approved equivalent
Chemical-resistant epoxy coating protects the concrete rebate from pool water ingress and chemical attack over the system life.
Structural Silicone
DOWSIL 795 or approved equivalent
High-modulus structural silicone provides the primary weatherseal and accommodates thermal and structural movement.
Backer Rod
Closed-cell polyethylene foam
Controls silicone joint depth and provides the correct two-sided adhesion geometry for optimal joint performance.
Installation Sequence
Assembly Procedure
Concrete Rebate Preparation
- Verify rebate dimensions against engineering drawings
- Check surface flatness and apply levelling compound if required
- Apply epoxy membrane coating and allow to cure
- Install temporary panel support frame
Panel Positioning
- Position acrylic panel on temporary supports
- Verify edge clearances are uniform on all four sides
- Check panel is level and adjust supports as required
- Install backer rod to all perimeter joints
Grout Bed Installation
- Mix structural grout per manufacturer specifications
- Pump grout beneath panel to achieve full bearing
- Allow grout to achieve initial set before removing supports
- Clean excess grout from joint faces
Silicone Joint Sealing
- Prime joint surfaces per silicone manufacturer requirements
- Gun structural silicone to achieve full joint fill
- Tool joint profile for water shedding
- Protect joint during cure period (7–14 days)
Engineering Note
Project-Specific Documentation
This detail represents a typical rebate configuration for Floor View horizontal installations. Actual dimensions, materials, and installation procedures are defined in project-specific engineering documentation.
All installations are engineered to suit the specific water depth, panel size, and structural conditions of each project. Rebate geometry and joint design are confirmed during the engineering phase and coordinated with the project structural engineer.
